Irene Mathavan: Yes agree wth others.. Do not tender. Company has to compensate till your maternity period is over. But again solid medical reports has to be your supporting evidence to fight tis termination issue. Best of luck and enjoy yr pregnancy..

Jolynn Lai: Sad to say, companies like this exist. I was asked to leave the day after I submitted my certificate of pregnancy. I didn't take any leave of absence and was even taking alcohol due to PR aspects of work. Luckily, hubby was very supportive and I just concentrate on my pregnancy

Darren Kok: They can't terminate you because of pregnancy but they can terminate you that you are not performing up to expectation. No employer is stupid enough to state pregnancy as a reason. The law here is very unclear and seeking mom is not 100% useful

Kris Sim: It's unfair . U shd lodge a compliant to MOM n raise the issue as our PM encourages us women to gv birth to boast up the birth rate n nw u been treated so unfair by ur company. U hv been feeling unwell due to pregnancy is an unexpected issue.they shd b more understanding towards u.

Maya Adriani: I had low laying placenta too during my pregnancy 3 year ago.. Discuss with my boss and company give me 3.5 months leave for my 1st trisemester (some deduct from my annual leave, some unpaid).. I came back work when I was 20 weeks when it more stable (no spotting anymore). If you ok with unpaid for at least your first trisemester, suggest this to your boss.. You can rest till it is more stable.. I find it Also fair enough to company, I meant they can arrange other ppl to do your job rather than ask or demanding to you to perform 100%.. If your company not even want to understand your situation, u may talk to MOM but again for future think again if this kind of company you still want to serve?

Celeste Goh: Talk to HR again. This time, bring a recorder with you and record down what they say. Because all are just verbal, they can deny what they said. If they still insist on you tendering, and end up terminating you, at least the voice recording can be submitted to MOM.

Oh, and do NOT let HR know you are recording...

Venise Koh: No use talk to MOM, MP or any govt body because my fren has exactly the same situation. They unable to help.. Sound like they are in employers side. Please do not tender resignation. You must endure.. My fren now she v regret cos she has tendered and no govt body can help. Seek help to MOM and MP also no use. In fact is unfair they want ppl to give birth but cant even help if we have pregnancy probs..

Katherine Chua: I totally agree with Susan limsh. Should go to mom n never tender resignation. There are already a set of laws to protect mummy like u. So don't be afraid. Worst scenario, blow up this issue n get the news paper to report, recently ho t had been talking about marriage, family and babies. With your situation appear on newspaper, there will be a lot of govt bodies coming in to offer help to u. Do hang on n go to MOM

Joanna Tan: I thought govt body will be more sympathetic to pregnant woman but doesn't seem to be the case. When i was pregnant with my first child, i also had low-lying placenta with early contractions. I was working for telecommunications company doing frontline retail. I offered to take no pay leave but they ask me to take HL instead. I am very grateful to the company for being supportive. But i left cos i want to switxh to normal office hours. If I could, I also want to stay at home and rest. But standard of living in Singapore is so high. Hard for one partner to be working only. Gynae fees and hospital bills aren't cheap. still have house and bills to pay for.

Linda Lim: Maya has a valid point. From company's point of view, it is very tough as well to reschedule job scopes, your colleagues working schedule when MC occurs because so frequent and unplanned. Talk to them suggest what maya did. Show them relevant medical reports. Perhaps they gain a better insight into your situation and you can work something out together. With a longer lead time to plan, you can rest better and company can make necessary HR adjustments for that period. While your case is valid, I also seen many mc cases which is really border on the edge of taking advantage. It is these people who spoil the market for pregnant women.

Joanna Tan: I did suggest to them or work frm home. All they say is under My term of contract, I am suppose to do this this and that that. I guess they just want an easy way out. Pay me one month notice and ask me to go.
