Any parent can spoil a child in some cases. This is because we sometimes confuse love against discipline. Here are some ways on how a parent can avoid raising problems kids.
Janhvi Kukreja: Spoiling children is easier than keeping them grounded ......its so true. Perfect article to raise kids....only love and no discipline will definitely spoil the child... setting standards will set the expectations and both parent and child can share a strong bond of trust and respect.
Linda Wong: mommies, i have a 1yo and he loves to throw things and watch them fall (an act common to kids their age). i wonder if i should forbid him to do so, is this 'over-discipline'? is there a right age to exact discipline? anyone care to share? many thanks
Mayzus Woo Linda: they like e sound n effect thingy. Normali, I'd let em throw maxi 2 pcs. N I will step in on e 3rd pcs. No ctrl = no limit
Sharon Ann Wong Linda: Your child has discovered GRAVITY.. don't penalize him/ her please... As a parent, you have to teach your child, no matter how old that their actions do have a consequence. If you see your child throwing something and you do not step in, your child will think that that is acceptable behaviour.
LynLin Beh I discipline my child. Who often throws temper after being scolded for doing the wrong things. But often stepped in by grandparents ...sigh~~
Linda Seng Sharon: Is that true on GRAVITY? My boy always throws thing in a very angry way. Is that also discovering on GRAVITY?
Sharon Ann Wong: Is your boy 1 yr old too?? I read a book about encouraging a genius-mind, & it says that many times as parents our reaction kills our kids brain cell by killing off their inquisitive nature... So we need to know that our kids want to find out about things the natural way... By experimenting...
Chloe Potter: My children are very creative still despite being disciplined at a young age. They have very imaginative minds and show great interest in reading and hunger for knowledge. I allow them to express their creativity in healthy ways like art
