Precautions from mummies to 5 year old children using diapers @ night.
Avu Narula: Take him/her to toilet before ur child goes to bed.when ever u wake up at night try to take ur child along to the toilet .I knw he/she will get upset but after a while will realise .U gotta explain the kids its not good to pee on the bed .and try keeping training pants on or u can put on once been to the toilet .try hope it helps as worked well for my son )
Josephine Tan: as I am the sole care taker, sometimes when I need the toilet I bring her along. I also bought a toilet seat for
her.
Christina Zac: Do you feed him milk or water? I read from somewhere no water intake from 8pm.
Lin Ling Goh: Is he still on diapers during noon naps? If he is, start off with the shorter sleep time ones without diaper. Then proceed to night ones. You can also buy those waterproof mattress protector as a start. Also, Bring him to toilet (even if he's already asleep) just before you go to bed in the night to reduce 'accidents'.
Sheralyn Kuah: If wait them up, won't they get cranky in the morning because of lack of sleep?
Sheralyn Kuah: I mean wake
Josephine Tan: I do give her milk . let her go before bed time.
Lilian Gohsuiying: I carry my boy to d toilet if he's too tired to walk on his own...he stops diaper whn his 4..
Lilian Gohsuiying: U need to train them earlier...i hv a fren who has two boys 5 n 6..still on diaper now...waste of money n will cause rashes if u wait d next morning (*.*)
Helen Choo Muz: reduce liquid intake at nite. Go toilet bfore bed. Muz monitor toilet habit, after milk, sm goes toilet 2hr later. Sm nd goes toilet twice or thrice per nite. Nd nt wake her/him up, juz carry him to toilet to pee. Repeat tis every nite ard d same time. I oso hv a waterproof mattress cover, get fm kingcoil. Hope it helps!
Allison Ng: This was what I did; bring e kids to toilet before bedtime, wake them up in the middle of night to pee. Yes, they pee half asleep n its tiring for me. But they got used it after a while. My girls stopped wearing diapers around 2 half, and my son around 3

Meow Ling Tan: I thk we should be more encouraging towards the mummy and the kid. Be sensitive when you are commenting, even if yr kid is already toilet trained since young. The mummy is asking for advise and help..
Allison Ng: Forgot to mention I was carrying them while they pee
Allison Ng: Forgot to mention I was carrying them while they pee
Yan Ping: I agree with Lin Ling Goh. But instead of bringing my boy to toilet at night, I have the potty in the bedroom to avoid him from woken up by the walking to the toilet.
Meagan Johnson:
We are working with our 4 yr old daughter without diapers. we thought she was just sleeping heavy and when she turned 4 a week ago she said she didn't want to wear diapers anymore and we told her that she needs to wake up then when she has ...See More
Judy Lim:
agrees with Lin Ling. Start with the PM nap. and get waterproof bed protector. Tell your child that she is already a big girl, and wearing diaper at night is a boo boo.... lots of encouragement really helps - like make a BIG DEAL if yr chil...See More
Lin Susan: I agree with Meow Ling Tan. A 5 yr old still on diaper at night doesn't mean that he is learning slow.
Fern Lim: Ya I agree too! My 3.5 nt even toilet train as I belive he will auto dy he won't want wear diaper when go nursery next yr. He can if he want without me telling just go potty! But snetimes for convenence sake we let them wear diapers! What has this got to do with being slow? Every child is different!!
Joey Loo:
Ya ... Hello!!! Wats with the child being a slow learner seriously no link lor... My son is 5.5yrs old... When he slp over at my mum's he's without diaper ... When his with me I gave him diapers seriously becos I'm plain tired to worry in ...See More
Sharyn De Zolt: I still wet the bed when i was 10! Im now 40! Get over yourselves ‘perfect ’ mums whose children never wet the bed.. I also was trained early but then things changed around 10. U never know u could end up with bed wetters later. People ask for advice here. Not judgement!
Dhelma Tubo:
My 3.4 year old son is stil on diaper. He does nt want to go to d CR to pee or poo. Whatever encouragement we make, its useless. As part of his training, i hide all his diaper and put on brief but he cntrol himself whenever he feels like he...See More
Jessy Ng: I read that if they wake up in the morning with a wet diaper, it shows that they are nt ready for nite without diaper.
Jesslyn Toh: ?1) avoid milk after 8pm (2) go toilet before sleep (3) put disposable waterproof sheet on bed (4) set alarm every nite to wake the kid up to pee... After 2 mths, both parents and kid are tired with (4), so I switch to rewarding my girl one $1 coin each time she never wet her bed. It works for her.
Sharon Goh: The Childcare centre actually let the kids sleep w/o diaper during nap time. Slowly train the kid to go toilet before sleep. My boy also 5 year, we slowly train him with pm nap at home w/o wearing diapers. Then night time too, and we woke him up at am to go toilet.
Fiona Chan: Hi mummies, curious to ask will yr kid get frustrated when woke up middle of night to pee?
Lin Ling Goh Sheralyn and Fiona: mine does get bit cranky during the middle night wake up process. Will just carry them to toilet since the adults are alert. For older children could just support them from behind holding under their armpits while they stagger. So far No problem getting back to sleep right after toilet, and no 'not enough sleep' issue next morning
Fiona Chan Lin ling: is it every 2hrs? What if late before waking process?
Fiona Sim Remember, I used to carry my gal to her potty every 2 hrs before she is on her own.
Jessy Ng: I tried. The waking at the middle of the nite. But she still wets her bed n it's twice. Hwever my elder gal's diaper was dry so I started toilet train. Milk before 9, pee b4 bed. I didn't hv to wake her up to pee. She will wake me up if she feels the urge.
Jessy Ng: But for my younger gal, it's tough! Tried the same method but can't work. Sleeps thru out n wets her bed.
Today's Motherhood: We did it by reducing intake of water and bringing them to toilet just before sleeping. There will be accidental bed wetting but it will get better.

U might wan to try my method. My 3yr old boy is off diaper at night ard 30mths. Here's wat I do.

Lin Ling Goh Fiona, only once before adults sleep say at midnight. Can last till next morning waking up between 6.30am-8am. But will still hve accidents at times
Lin Ling Goh I feel that being Toilet trained is Similar to weaning off night feeds. I guess it oso differs from child to child. Some can be off night feeds from as young as 6weeks, some still at it until 6 years old. We just have to work out the best method suited for our child..
Chealsea HO : Chill Encious. Mummies opinions here may varies and no one parenting style is the best. The best is only when children benefits n therefore we reinforce behaviour and aviod affecting child. In the western culture it is normal for kids to st...See More

Wendy Tan: I think you will have to take the cue from the 5yo. Is he or she ready? Forcing night toilet training may backfire if the child's consent has not been sought. I took cue from my girl who was ready to remove her day diapers at 22 months old....See More
Sharon Tan: I agree with Jessy, my ger, 5yrs, had milk at 9pm, will pee b4 sleep, but morning wake up with a very heavy diaper, how possible to wake them up every now and then, i have tried, is a tedious nite. She is fine with noon nap without diaper. I believe is not a matter of smart or slow, is a matter of time whether they are ready for it.
