2. Dance Appreciation Series: Introduction to The Nutcracker
As a lead up to Singapore Dance Theatre’s 2016 season finale performance of The Nutcracker, we have condensed this classic ballet into an hour-long special for young audiences!

The Nutcracker brings audiences on a journey of adventure and courage and introduces familiar and well-loved characters like Clara, the Snow Queen, the Sugar Plum fairy and her Cavalier.

Join us and learn more about the magical world of dance and ballet! There will also be a meet-and greet-session with the cast after the performance. Come dressed in your favourite costumes!

3. The Secret Life of Suitcases
Larry works in an office and he likes it very much. He likes sorting and tidying and generally putting things in order – everything in its place, a place for everything.

But one day, a suitcase suddenly appears at his door…A suitcase with a tiny label and a tiny label with Larry’s name on it. And this suitcase has a mission.

Join Larry in The Secret Life of Suitcases as his world gets turned upside down by a fantastical flying suitcase, taking him further than he ever thought possible. Follow Larry’s journey as he discovers the thrill of adventure and the joy of coming home again.

This funny and enchanting puppet show was originally co-produced by the Unicorn Theatre, London.

4. Little Red Riding Hood
My, my, what a big imagination you have!

Retrace Little Red Riding Hood’s path in the woods with two little ones as they play a game of ‘what-if’ and pretend! They run and chase each other, taking on different roles but both eager to take on the role of Mr Wolf…or is that…Miss Wolf?

Join the duo as they turn the pages in a light-hearted story filled with new discoveries at every turn. Enter the belly of the wolf and experience the tale of Little Red Riding Hood like never before.

5. Parent-Child Workshop: Animate-a-Story!
Tell a story through animation! Learn the basics of animation in a fun artist-led workshop.. Find out how you can use brainstorming and storyboarding techniques to weave a story, before drawing and colouring in your illustrations. After the workshop, the artist will use the illustrations to create a short animated clip which will be sent to you.

6. Parent-Child Workshop: Dip & Dye

The ants go marching one by one…but not for long! These giant ants mean business as they scurry around, gather a colony of worker kid-ants and go into nooks and crannies searching for crumbs!

14. The Big Draw
A special free event for children aged 1 – 12 and their families, this year’s festivities at The Big Draw features free exciting activities revolving around the theme of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

The exciting programme line-up includes the Amazing Shapes Trail where children are invited to hunt for different shapes around Gillman Barracks while collecting stamps along the way, the tinkering activity Power Up Gillman with Imagin8ors where children use recycled materials and LED lights for their creations, and puppet theatre-making with Come and Make which invites children to create their own puppets and tell their favourite story. Additional happenings include free stop motion animation workshops with artist Lea Vidakovic where children are invited to do collective storytelling and put their own fabricated puppet actors in an animation.

In addition to these exciting activities, the Children’s Centre for for Creativity will be opened all day with FREE admission for all visitors to catch the final month of the current hands-on exhibition ‘Hideaways – Creating with Nature’. An engaging and immersive hands-on experience, ‘Hideaways – Creating with Nature’ invites children to explore, observe, construct, reflect, innovate and engage with nature and natural materials through hands-on exhibits and interactive artists’ installations.
