British Council Year-end Holiday Courses
The year-end holiday courses at the British Council offer students extra support in various English language skills to prepare them well for the coming school year. A highlight of the holiday line-up this year is the new Learn and Explore range of dedicated comprehension and composition courses for primary school students.
At the pre-school level, courses include a fun, dinosaur themed course and primary school preparation, where Kindergarten 2 students get an introduction to the activities and routines that they will encounter in Primary 1. Students who need extra support before Primary 1 will benefit from our intensive reading booster course.
Learn and Explore – Comprehension Skills
Students will explore a variety of engaging and age-appropriate texts and learn the techniques to approach the question types that appear in school examinations. Classes are interactive and students will have the opportunity to discuss topical themes, broadening their general knowledge. Being able to review and reflect on their work critically is another important skill which will be taught and practised during this course.
Learn and Explore – Composition Skills
Aimed at developing better writers, this course gives students the opportunity to experiment and practise various writing techniques. Throughout the week-long course, students will work on text types such as narratives, informal letters, information reports, personal recounts, procedures, poetry, expositions and factual recounts. With support and feedback from their teacher, students will produce their own original pieces and take home a portfolio of their work.
Holiday courses run from 21 November to 9 December, at our centres in Napier Road, Marsiling, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Katong.
