This Father’s Day, The New Age Parents would like to introduce a father, Dick Hoyt, and his son, Rick, who compete together in marathons and triathlons.
So, What’s so special about this father and son team?
Dick (the dad) pulls Rick (the son) in a special boat as they swim, carries him in a special seat in the front of a bicycle, and pushes him in a special wheelchair as they run. This is because Rick has Cerebral Palsy. As they speak and travel more they are racing less. At the beginning of their career, they participated in 50 races per year but now aim for 20-25 races per year. Rick will be 50 in 2012 and Dick will be 72. They still say they don’t see an end in sight yet.
Here is their inspiring life story.
